You must have read and heard this before and many people must have thought that they do not eat much salt at all, so let me tell you in advance that you eat more salt. Yes! you eat. According to a study, we Indians are not among the countries that consume less salt.
So let's know from the experts, when does salt become dangerous for us? What are the problems caused by excessive salt? How much salt should be eaten in a day? Which salt does not harm health? How much and which salt should be eaten in BP and heart disease?
According to the American Heart Association, a daily intake of about 2.4 grams or 2,400 milligrams of sodium is right for a person. It is equal to about one teaspoon or 5 grams of salt. People who are used to eating more salt than this can go beyond giving taste to salt and can give heart attacks and strokes.
It is true that food cannot be imagined without salt. But some people have such a habit of eating too much salt that along with the food, they eat it by adding salt on top. A person in India consumes an average of 11 grams of salt in a day. This is more than double the recommended salt intake of 5 grams per day (as per WHO).
