Getting an annual flu vaccine has several advantages. According to a study conducted in Brazil, the influenza vaccine offers protection against contracting severe COVID-19. If the flu vaccine is taken before contracting COVID-19, the chance of death is reduced by 20 per cent and if taken after getting COVID-19, the chance of death is reduced by 27 per cent, said Dr Basvaraj Kuntoji, Consultant - Internal Medicine, Manipal Hospitals, Malleswaram.
