  • Dr. Shalina Ray is an Otorhinolaryngologist and a specialist in ear, nose, and throat conditions. She has an experience of more than 25 years, during which she has performed advanced ear surgeries, sleep apnea surgeries, and paediatric ear, nose, and throat surgeries. She is highly educated with degrees like MBBS, DLO, and MS. She works at the Manipal Hospital in the Whitefield area of Bangalore city as a Consultant- Ear, Nose, and Throat. She completed her MBBS from the B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad. She completed her MD from the same college in the year 1999. She worked as a Clinical Fellow in head and neck surgery at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai and got advanced training in the field. In 2002 she went to London to work at the Dunstable Hospital, where she was a Resident Doctor for nearly six years. It was only the beginning of her extensive international exposure. Later, she took advanced training in Coblation Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, and sleep apnea surgeries in England and became a member of the General Medical Council of the country. She also got a membership in the Royal College of Surgeons of the United Kingdom in 2006. She underwent advanced training in Endoscopic Sinus Surgeries at the Singapore General Hospital. She has also worked in the United States at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California. She was trained in advanced Otology in the hospital.

  • She has experience doing facial nerve surgeries, salivary gland surgeries, thyroplasty, Laser Microlaryngeal Surgery, and rhinoplasty. She got trained in Laser and Laryngeal Voice Surgery at the KEM hospital in Mumbai. She is an expert in performing laser-assisted laryngeal surgeries, Endoscopic Advanced Sinus Surgeries, paediatric ear surgeries, and sleep apnea or snoring surgeries. She counsels patients about managing vertigo, allergies, and tinnitus. She has dealt with countless ENT emergencies, such as nasal bleeding, airway obstruction, and removal of foreign bodies. Her articles have been published in reputed medical journals like the International Journal of Medical Science and Current Research, the Indian Journal of Anatomy and Surgery of Head, Neck and Brain, and the Annals of Royal College of Surgeons of England. She has written about topics like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Post-Covid Mucormycosis, unusual cases of Epistaxis, intranasal myopericytoma, etc. She was part of a randomised controlled trial to compare Triadcortyl with 10% glycerine-ichthammol during the treatment of severe acute otitis externa. The trial is now a part of the European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology. She has also written a case report about chylous cysts, which was published in the Indian Journal of Anatomy and Surgery of Head, Neck and Brain in the year 2019.
