A bone scan is a nuclear imaging test used to help diagnose problems with bones. It safely uses a very small amount of radioactive drug called a radiopharmaceutical. This scan is done in case of unexplained skeletal pain, bone infection, the spread of a tumour to bones or any bone injury that can't be seen on a standard X-ray.

Radioiodine or Iodine 131 Therapy is a nuclear medicine treatment for an overactive thyroid, a condition called hyperthyroidism and may also be used to treat thyroid cancer.

Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) is a molecular therapy (also called radioisotope therapy) used to treat a specific type of cancer called neuroendocrine tumors or NETs.
This test is mainly to look at the blood supply of the heart, both during exercise and rest. In some cases, if the stress part of the scan looks normal, rest scan may not be performed. Thyroid Scan

A small dose of radioactive injection is given IV and initial images are acquired for 30mins. Many patients may require a delayed Images after 2 hours(will be decided by the doctor after seeing the initial scan)

Therapy Procedures
Therapeutic procedures include the use of radioactive iodine treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, samarium therapy is provided for painful bone metastases and P-32 therapy for hematologic disorders (such as thrombocytosis). Transarterial radioembolisation(TARE) with yttrium-90 microspheres are being used for therapy in primary and metastatic liver cancer patients. Alternate options of treatment of liver cancer using Rhenium is also offered.
We have been one of the pioneering departments in this country in Radioguided surgery (Sentinel Node biopsy of early breast cancers, head & neck and gynaecological malignancies, Minimally invasive Parathyroid surgery & ROLL).
