Penile prosthesis
A penile implant is a modern option for men having a medical condition in erectile dysfunction(ED). At times, a penile prosthesis is implanted during surgery to reconstruct the penis when scarring has caused erections to curve, also called Peyronie's disease.

Solutions in penile prosthesis
Penile implants are either bendable or inflatable. The simplest type has a pair of malleable rods surgically implanted within the erection chambers of the penis. This type of implant is a good choice for men with spinal cord injuries. The hydraulic, inflatable prosthesis consists of two attached cylinders - a reservoir and a pump. The two cylinders are inserted in the penis and connected by tubing to a separate reservoir of saline. This reservoir is implanted under the butt muscles. A pump is also connected to the system and sits under the loose skin of the scrotal sac, between the testicles. This is a day procedure performed under general anaesthesia.

Complexities of penile prosthesis
Some of the risks involved include infection, scar tissue formation, erosion of tissue around the implant, uncontrolled bleeding, and implant failure.
